Looking back at the
2007 season, Mike Sweeney had a legitimate shot at the Sundance
Vacations Speedway
late model title. Although Sweeney came up short, he did manage to
notch a feature win and concentrate on his future.
His future called
for a brand new race car, one which would require some fine tuning, but
come opening day in 2008 Sweeney was up on the wheel in his #D11.
Eyeing the title
from the get go, he ran consistently during the early portion of
the season and notched his first feature win in a 50-lap double points
show. The win column expanded from there, as did his points tally.
As the season
progressed, so did Sweeney’s consistency. Even with a few mishaps
during mid season, he always rebounded and the results showed.
Sweeney boasts a lot
of support from his loyal sponsors- Stewart Sanitation, Midnight
Recovery Specialist, Krajcirik Automotive, Hope's Collision, And Radocha
Excavating. His pit crew is made up of his father, Rob, Bruce, Eric,
Greg, Dave, Pip, Todd, Kevin and his crew chief, Rick and Mike has
appreciated their help and dedication through out the entire season.
Along with his
crew, Mike continuously thanks his mom, dad and his girlfriend Sarah for
their continued support.
With his new ride
broken in, a track title and even more experience at the speedway, Mike
Sweeney is more than ready for a full season in 2009!
